Into the Home Stretch

I'm happy to say that on Thursday, we left for Albuquerque, NM, 34 weeks pregnant.  On Sunday, we returned home, 35 weeks pregnant.  Baby S decided not to make an early appearance, and we successfully went to watch two of our close friends, Pat and Fila, get married in their hometown.  We had a good trip with no problems or complications from being pregnant.  The flights were a little uncomfortable for me (but are they really comfortable for anyone??), but I didn't have any problems with TSA or with the airlines.  We got into Albuquerque late Thursday evening and Friday made the short drive to Sante Fe where we toured the Georgia O'Keefe museum and attended a festival in the town square.  Later that night we went to the rehearsal dinner, where we ate lots of chips and salsa (Brandon drank lots of beer too...I stuck to water) and got the chance to catch up with friends that we hadn't seen in quite some time.  It was our first time leaving Copper and we missed him like crazy, but our feelings were easily put into perspective by our friends Brad and Sarah, who left their 5 month old daughter with Sarah's parents for the first time to attend the festivities.  I'm already dreading the day I have to drop Baby Bean off at day care, so I try not to think about it!  Saturday was the wedding and reception and it was one heck of a party!  The wedding itself took place at 1:30 in the afternoon, then there was a short break for photos before the cocktail hour started at 5:00.  The actual reception kicked off at 6:00 and lasted until at least midnight...I say at least because we only made it until 11:00 before Brandon had drunk his fill of beer and I could barely keep my eyes open.  We made a pretty valiant effort at dancing, but as you all know, I can hardly dance when I'm NOT pregnant...dancing with a giant belly wasn't any easier.  There was a very old man tearing it up on the dancefloor...he shamed me!  So we danced when the songs were slow and didn't require any twisting (I never imagined I would completely lose the ability to rotate my hips in one direction and my shoulders in the other!), and sat and caught up with friends when we looked too silly.  All in all we had a great time but were happy to get back home and pick up our little Copper.  He's currently sleeping on the floor at my feet...apparently, he partied pretty hard this weekend too :-)

Here are a few pictures from our trip....

Friday night at the rehearsal dinner...this is before all the chips and spicy salsa...the cuisine in New Mexico is not all that preggo-friendly...good thing I remembered the Tums!

Sarah and I at the cocktail hour...we were missing Copper, but she and Brad were missing their beautiful baby daughter Julianna...yes, I know, they win!

Brandon and I with the New Mexican landscape in the background...so pretty!

We got to see Jesse!  He is so excited for us and our growing family!

Brandon and all the boys...Scotty, Brad, Josh and Jesse...it was so nice to catch up with friends :-)

And now that we've successfully made it back with the Bean still safe and sound in utero, the waiting game begins!  Tuesday is the first of my weekly doctor's appointments...and we're just about to hit the point where she could pretty much come at any time.  We'll keep you updated on our progress!

Until the next time!  XOXO
